THE BIGGS MYSTERY
THE POLICE BAFFLED. PARTICULARS OF ENQUIRIES. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at 8 a.m.) -MELBOURNE, November 27. The police are puzzled by the Biggs case, particulars whereof were cabled from Auckland after the arrival of the Uhmaroa to-day. The last seen of Mrs Biggs was on November ISth. The husband left a note at the People’s Palace saying: “I am leaving lor Auckland to-morrow. You know where to liml me.” The police cannot understand row the woman could get to Sydney with only 2s Bd, which was found in her purse. Mr Biggs called upon a friend named Miss Martin at West Melbourne on November 19th, saying lie bad left his wife doing shopping, and adding that they were both leaving for Sydney that afternoon to join the ship Miss Martin added that Mrs Biggs some days before said she was looking forward to the trip to Sydney and New Zealand. It is understood Mr Biggs preached at a idymouth Brethren church at West Melbourne before he left.
ANOTHER INTERVIEW. AUCKLAND, November 27 W. H. A, Biggs, who was informed on arrival of the Ulimarou yesterday that his wife had been found drowned at St. Kilda, returns to Sydney by 'he same steamer on Friday. Asked to-day whether lie had seen the latest cable news from Melbourne, and that it did not altogether coincide with bis published statement of yesterday, Biggs replied: “I haven’t seen the cable nor do 1 wish to see it. I have nothing whatever to say, having said all I intend saying to the police. Good morning and thank you.’’
