FASTEST AIRSHIP. 11.100 HANDED OVER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Nov. 25. Airship “R 100” has been officially handed over to the Air Ministry. Site is described as being the world’s fastest airship. The engines develop two thousand more horsepower than those of the “R10I.” while her dead weight lifting capacity' is 20- tons greater. It is also claimed that her different design has strengthened the metal skeleton.
The flight will be made towards the week-end, with Major Scott in command. WELLINGTON ENTERPRISE. WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. The flying by-law proposed by the City Council, include a rule that over the city airmen must not come below two thousand feet. If the engine fails the pilot must endeavour to land at ii.e edge of the water. The question of parachutes for passengers was raised but the Mayor said that only the Government could handle that. Members of the Council considered that all machines should he regularl.v tested, but the Mayor held the onus could not be laid on the Council. Both this, insurance and other things would have to he dealt with.
