BOY MURDERER

(Received this day at 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 27„ ; Erie Pike, aged fifteen, to-day pleaded guilty to manslaughter of John Smith, cabled on 22nd October., and was sentenced to three yi-.ars bard labour with subsequent detention in a reformatory. The charge was originally one of murder. The Judge, in passing sentence, said, “Your youth saves you from the hanging you so well deserve.’’
