The annual , general meeting of the Westport Coal Coy. was held this afternoon. The Chairman of Directors, Mr ,G. L. Denniston, presided, and about (>0 shareholders were present. DRAINAGE SCHEME

PALMERSTON N., Nov. 26

The Minister of Agriculture (Hon. G. W. Forbes) paid a brief visit to Palmerston North last night. A deputation of the Makura Drainage Board made a, request for a £ for £ subsidy of labour costs of the proposed work, a channel providing a key to the drainage system of a valuable area’.
