CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 21

A. large number of counterfeit florins and ’ half crowns are reports’ to be in circulation in Christchurch. Tbe bad coins were first detected some weeks ago, hut during the pas l few days, the banks have been offered larger numbers. Probably this is duo to an increased issue of them during Carnival Week.

The 1 half crowns are dated 19.19 and the florins 1916. They are lighter and brighter than the genuine coins. r !he milling and lettering are not quite perfect; but the coins are so good imitations that many may he passed even after a warning.. • ' ’ 1
