An enthusiastic reception was given Viscount and Viscountess Craigavon at Elierslie racecourse by a great gathering of Auckland residents who are of. .Ulster stock, more-,,, than 500 being- pipseq.t. Among .those present were the Mayor of 1 Auckland (Air G. Baildon);. the Leader of the Opposition i( ; R,t- Hon .). G. .(.bates), the Minister (jf Health (HOll. ,/V. J. Stali war tli.v.). and the PostmasterGeneral (Hou, J,; B. Donald). . Lord Craigqyon said be was. delighted to be in. Now Zealand. The .realisation of some dreams was not always satisfactory, ~but,,he had .boon, amazed wherever lie >went in this beautiful land to see that bis dream was a miserable anticipation of the great reality. The title deeds of thirty acres of land in Avondale Borough were handed by Mrs W. H- Smith to Lord Craigavon, who then placed' them' in possession of the. Mayor.. Mrs Smith said she desired the land to lie used as a park to be knowfi/ as Craigavon Park.
