Advertise the education facilities provided bv the District High School. Assist in the policy of circularizing all parents of eligible pupils both in Hokitika and surrounding districts, with a view to enrolling every holder of a Proficiency Certificate. Scholarships and Board Allowances should be awarded to country pupils of a desirable type to induce parents to enroll them, and to enable parents in poor circumstances to meet the cost of boarding their children in Hokitika. Hpstel accommodation for country pupils follows as a corollary Horn 2. The present Anglican Hostel is at present (fulfilling a very usetul service, but assistance from the Board would probably be welcomed. The Board’s residence in Sewell St. would in many ways be very suitable as a Hostel.

Subsidies to teachers’ salaries in approved cases to induce the best and most highly qualified econdary teachers to apply. It was also mentioned by the Rector that he had withdrawn his application for an addition to salary for High School work for the present, as he considered the making of arrangements for a suitable hosted of more pressing interest to the High School at the present juncture.
