“ THE freedom of the press ”
FRIDAY.
The intensely interesting and dramatic Atmosphere that is bound up with life on a newspaper has been brought to the screen in. the greatest story of journalism ever made. It is titled “Freedom of the Press” and is a film version of an original screen story by Peter B. Ivyne. “Freedom of the press',” which is a Universal picture, will come to the Princess 'theatre on Friday A battle between the cruel forces of the sword and the mighty l ower of i ini i en is the dramatic theme upon which-the picture is based. The underworld ,iof a. big ..city is the sword and the columns of the daily paper is the pen. Not even the love of the underworld king’s ward and the son of the newspaper publisher can bring amity between the two forces before the entire city is rocked by the titantic struggle that finally crushes the outlawed group. Lewis Stone appears , in the starring role of the power behind the underworld. It is the greatest characterization this veteran actor has given and one of the finest portrayals of the year. An all star company off supporting players appears in “Free dom of the Press”. Marceline Day has the feminine lead. Malcoln McGregor is the son of the newspaper publisher at,, and Henry B. Walthall is the father. Included in the cast are Robert Emmett O’Connor, Thomas Ricketts, Hayden Stevenson, Robert Ellis, Boris Bar onoff, Morgan Thorpe and Wilson Bonge. The supporting subject's are Topical “ The Collegians,” and a two reel comedy, selections by the orchestra.
