POACHERS’ DOG CLUE.

CAIRO, Oct. 1. The police, with a beagle as their unwitting aid, are seeking for a poacher who killed a game warden in the woods near Jamaica, Long Island. The warden, William Cramer, who was with another warden, came upon an Italian shooting robins for the sake of the savoury Italian dish Polenta. The wardens arrested the man. On their way through the woods to the police station, however, the party met another poacher, who shot Cramer. The captive turned on the other warden and escapsed, hut left a small beagle behind. The police now plan to release and follow it in the hope that it will take them to its owner’s home.
