FRIENDLY COUNSEL
RE-DOUBLED JOYS. A crowd is not company: and laces are but a gallery of pictures: and talk is but a tinkling cymbal where there is no love. This communicating of a man’s self to bis friend works two contrary effects: for it re-dmibleth joys and cuttetli griefs in halves. For there is no man that imparteth his joys to his friend, hut he joyoth' the more; and no man that imparteth his griefs to his friend, but lie grievoth tbc less. I'\UAN CIS -HACON. -X- -X- -X- * They drew a circle and shut him out — Heretic, rebel, a thing to limit. But Love and I had the wit to win : We drew a circle and took him in. MAIIKHAM. -X- -X- * * Sweet is the smile of the home; the mutual look When hearts are of each.other sure; Sweet all the joys that crowd the household nook, The haunts ol' all affections pure.
