BRITAIN’S OBJECTION
: POSTPONEMENT of naval i. .PAULEY. i ' '' (United Press, Association—By .Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Nor. 18. “Tlie Times” says: The Government has communicated with France, Italy and Japan its view that it is inadvisable to- postpone the five-Power Conference from 21st. January next—which America, France and Italy have accepted—despite the probability of its clashmg ..with the . League of Eatipns Council..,. Britain expects that the conference deliberations will be protracted. Therefore time should not be lost in organising the committees to enable the work to be completed, by Easter. :It is also, strongly urged that Japan should .not appoint Service Delegates, but .civilian Ministers, like Britain and America. Discussion, if necessary at the League of Nations Council, can be postponed until January 27th. If Mr Henderson should then be still detained in London, MT Dalton (Foreign Under-Secretary) can lead the British Delegation at Geneva.
