BILLIARDS

BILLIARDS CHAAIPIONSHIP

AIcCOXACHY TO TAKE PART,

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).

(Received this day at 11 a.m.) LONDON, November 18

It is definite that AlcConachy will participate in the championship. Neither Lindrum nor Smith are entering.

Lindrum states the chief reason is that the financial returns are nor worthy of such a contest. This is an allusion to the fact that the hall where it is played accommodates only two hundred people, whereas he is praying before up to two thousand per night in the present matches. The point raised that I,indrum is tied up in a contract and has been urged to break it in the interests of billiards. Li ltdniin says Australians do not do that sort of tiling. Burroughes Watts, to whom he contracted, says they are quite willing to give ( him freedom from his contract, but Lindrum has his own reasons for not playing. There is an almost unanimous opinion that if Lindrum and Smith entered, they would fight out the final, the former perhaps being the winner. LONDON, Nov. 18. Lindrum. 15,355, imclyding breaks of 1017, 253. Smith (playing), 12,508. including breaks of 549, 252, unfinished. AlcConachy, (playing), 14,574, including breaks of 1065 , 809. Davis. 11,781, including breaks of 230, 400.
