AERO PAGEANT

WELLINGTON RESULTS

WELLINGTON, Nov. 17

Fourteen planes from all lover New Zealand were present at the Wellington Aero Club’s first pageant held at Rongotai Airport on Saturday afternoon, before am immense crowd of spectators both inside and outside the enclosed field. As there was a strong northerly wind, it necessitated great care in the ground work of tinplanes. The events included a tarrying parade of machines, a landing competition, bombing, and formation flyingThe Wellington Aerial Derby, 4> height-estimating contest, and a display qf acrobatics was won by Captain Burrell in a Defence GlosterGrebe ’plane. The flying displayed w; s of a very high order, hut bad management. ■ncticiilarly in the Aerial Derby and height estimating, caused considerable dissatisfaction among the spectators, and generally the announcing was very poor. The landing competition was won by Capt. M. 0. McGregor, of Hamilton Airways. Capt W. F. Path, m Air (). Cottrell’s Mono-coupe, was second. ( Capt. AfcGregor was also the winner of the Aerial Derby. Mr D. Mill, of Auckland, being runner-up.
