MARKET BEWILDERED

NEW YORK, Nov. 13

With another vicious drive against .stocks, which lowered the prices from two to fifteen dollars per share, it is now a low-level stock exchange.

The Exchange lias issued a call to the members to state their position by noon on November 16 as at the close of business oil; Tuesday the market closed, with the leading stocks near the bottom of the list. A few issues were showing slight rallies. Steel shares closed one up from the low levffl of 1514, being off two. General electric closed at 173. being off eleven and a half. American telephone and telegraph shores closed at 207, being up four. The telephone shares rallied sharply from 197-4. The questionair-e to members is expected to show the exchange who is in the market, and what is being done. AVall Street to-day is mystified at the continued selling and speculation runs high as to- whence it came. Near the close an order came for a million shares in Standard Oil (New Jersey) at 50 dollars a share. , It is believed this order is from Air J. D. Rock-feller, in a further attempt to check the liquidation.

SUICIDES INCREASING

NEAV YORK, Nov. 14

With the suicide of President Searte of the Rochester-New York Gas and ,Electric Coy, on account of his one million dollar loss on the Stock Market, and that of President liiordnn, of the County Trust Bank here, following on similarly large losses in Wall Street, there have now been at least four suicides of well known financial figures throughout the United States, as the result of the speculative collapse. Aloreover, there are continuous reports of the suicides of men and women whose fortunes have been wiped out b v the financial deba'cle.
