GOVERNOR-GENERAL
(United Press Association—By ElectricTelegraph .—Copyright.)
(Received this day at 10.30. a.m.) LONDON, November 13.
Wait and see, is the official attitude towards the report Ifrotn Australia that the Labour Party was adopting a. motion in favour of the appointment of a local Governor-General. It is recalled that there was a similar discussion over the State Governor for Canada in recent years, when it was laid down there was nothing to prevent a Dominion having local nominees, but it was pointed out it was a different matter with a Governor-General, in the light of the 192(5 Tmperial Conference, which designated him as the personal representative of His Majesty, who has to be guided by his Australian Minister.
Unofficial comment is that one of the difficulties would he of getting someone entirely detached ifrom local politics.
