Smith had all the better of to-day’s exchanges, despite Lindrum’s break of over a thousand. Smith scored 2,271. an average of 252 an innings, and Lindrum 1712 an average of 190. Tn the Davis-McConachy match, MeConachy started with a lead of 788 and was in play with 406. He took the break to 555, breaking down on a difficult cushion cannon. MoConachy appeared to find the running conditions to his liking, each break representing brilliant play. An easy red winner from hand proved his downfall of the first big break, while he failed in the second when trying to play the red into the middle pocket from an acute angle.
