WATERiSIDERS PROTEST,

DUNEDIN, Nov. 13
Dunedin waterside workers passed a resolution protesting against the decision of Judge 'Biair, v.idle acting on the Arbitration Court in the absence of Judge Fraser, in refusing to grant an increase, in wages to waterskiers, and against the action of Justice Blair in not following the principles laid down by Justice Frazer in 1924 m fixing the rates of pay for work performed on the waterfront. If this fixation method had been adopted, the Court would have been forced to give an increase. In view of the above the Union urges the Government to institute a special inquiry into the wages conditions of watersiders throughout New Zealand.
PAPAIIUA BURGLARY
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 13
The steel door of the large strongroom standing about six feet high was forced by explosives and the oash box wa.s taken. When the lady assistant clerk discovered the burglary on Monday morning she endeavoured to call the police by telephone and found the wires were cut, Though the windows were closed on Saturday they were not fastened and it was by this means the burglars gained un entry. There is a record of all cheques stolen, the largest of which was for £1(39 lJs Bd. Four bankings had been made during the week including three on the Thursday preceding the burglary.
DRUNKEN DRIVER
WOODVILLE, Nov. 13
A young man, aged 18, named Gordon Davenport, of Tane, (Pahiatua), was fined £2O in the Magistrate’s Court and had his license cancelled for twelve months for (being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car.
SUPREME COURT
WELLINGTON, Nov. 13
“I Was made to feel that I was a stranger in my own home,” said Leo Andrews a company manager, of Wellington, when giving evidence in his divorce suit against Gladys Dims Jacobsen on the grounds of adultery when he became suspicious of his wife’s attitude towards a bachelor, Edward Bell. He had her movements watched and as a result took proceedings. A decree nisi was granted.
Thomas Joseph Conway was granted a decre nisi against Elsie Conway on the grounds of desertion. A similar decree, was made in the case of Walter John Syammell for Separation by mutual consent on petition.
Frederick William Hill for an order of restitution of conjugal rights was made against Dorothy Norwood Hill.
