HOKITIKA HIGH SCHOOL BOARD

ACONDAY, NOVEMBER lltli. The Board met at 2.30 p.m. Present: Hon. H. L. Aiichel (Chairman), Messrs J. A. .Murdoch, J. King, T. AY. Duff, A. Clifton, and T. AV. Bruce. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved.

Air Murdoch in retiring from the acting-chairmanship which he had taken over during the illness' oi Air Michel said he had very great pleasure in retiring from that position and expressing his own and that of fellow members at having Air Aiichel present again to take the chair fully recovered from his recent illness.

Mr Aiichel expressed his appreciation at the happy manner in which Mr Al,urdoch had carried out his duties and his appreciation df the good wishes expressed.

From Hokitika School Committee, thanking Ronrd for supplying six typewriters.—Received. From E. Partridge (Rector, D.H.S.), applying to Board lor a subsidy salary similar to that already paid to one member of the secondary staff, pointing out the increased attendance at the High School and the splendid scholastic record improvement shown.—Received; consideration deferred, members expressing doubt as to their power to accede to the request, in view of the correspondence with the Education Department. Resolved to instruct the solicitor to to terminate the present tenancy of Government House and collect all outstanding rents on reserve sections. Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. The Boai'd then rose.
