NEW HEAD ARRIVES
A MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 12
Commissioner John Cunningham, the newly-appointed Commissioner of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, accompanied by his wife and three children arrived at Wellington to day in the Ulimaroa from Sydney, A large 'gathering of officers and members were on the wharf to welcome them, including Col. Taylor (Chief Secretary) and Mrs Taylor, Col, and Mrs Gunn (Heads of Deparment), and* the whole of the Training College staff.
Replying to /a< welcome. Commissioner Cunningham said they woie glad to be in New Zealand. AYo have brought our hearts with us and are here with all the New Zealand enoigv we possess to help you and forward the work of the Army 'in New Zealand.
Asked if he had a message for the Army in New Zealand and people of New Zealand, he said: —l want to assure the Army in New Zealand that having myself become a Salvationist 40 years ago and having given the very host of my days, my youth and strength to the Army, I am a thoroughly devoted Salvationist, believing in the Army’s teaching, loval to its purpose, and every energy I possess will he devoted to the furthering of its work, and bringing about its great Object to the people of New Zealand. He said the best in him of mind, heart and spirit will be given for the uplift of the people and the furthering of every good cause and blessing of the whole land. •
