THE RHINELAND
BRITISH PAPER’S WARNING
(United Press Association—By Electric

' LONDON, Nov. 11. The Daily Telegraph’s diplomatic Wresporidet' says.: M. Tardieu," the French Prime Mmistpr’s Statement in the Chamber of .Deputies that The Hague agreement, for the evacuation of the ; third zone .has; not ' yet; begun to run, and that France is under no obligation to evacuate bv dune 20th. 1930, reads like a repudiation of M. Briand’s pledge. M. Tardieu overlooks the fact that an eight month’s’ period is the maximum, as the document says that evacuation shall “in any case he completed within eight months,’.so. that, even if the putting into operation of the Young Plan is not completed, before February, the exit of the French troops from, the o p( is perfectly feasible' Moreover, \M; Tardmu’s hint' that it may be expedient to continue the sple occupation of part of the Rhineland after June 39th. 1630, is in direct conflict with M. Briand’s speech, . which insisted that the evacuation was an Inter-Allied . affair,,. Otherwise, France, would, single-handed, have to rei-establish. martial law ip-the Rhineland, as, the withdrawal of the British would destroy the legal existence of the .! Inter-Allied Rhipeland Commission.
