Two solicitors, George Maekay and John Douglas Vernon, were each fined £SO to-day for'failure to have trust accounts audited. Vernon is of To Kuiti.
A SUICIDE
PAHIATUA, Nov. 8,
Herbert Ingamells, a labourer, single, aged 47, was found dead in a, tent with his throat cut, on Makairio farm, where he was employed. Deceased in May, 1927, attempted suicide similarly at Alfredton.
PROPOSED SUBSIDY. WOODVILLE, Nov. 8
At a public meeting held at AVoodville last night it was announced that the Minister of Mines had offered a subsidy of £SOO towards the cost of securing a geophysical survey by German scientists of Maharahara copper field, in the prospecting of which a sum of '£40,000 has already been expended by various' companies. The total cost of a geophysical survey, is expected to •be about £3,500 and the public is being asked to subscribe £3OOO to the prospecting company. If the money is forthcoming, a start will bo made with a survey early in January.

At 2 a.m. to-day a slight collision occurred at WellmgtdnfiHfladsw;'between the eoa&talysteampr iCygnet bjld' the big '-American motor vessel “City of Dalhart.” The Cygnet was arrivingr.iffoitf tKafk(|ura;,_f andd ;thb jlattfeF was inward bound from New York. Neither was seriously damaged. A preliminary inquiry was held to-day, and the evidence will be considered by the Marine Department.
“TOTARA’S” ENGINES BREAK DOWN.
WELLINGTON, Nov. 8
The Union -S.S. Company received a radio to-night that the- “Totara,” bound from New Plymouth to Web, was disabled by engine trouble: The Totara gave her position as practically 12, miles north-east of Stephen Island, and asked that assistance be sent her. The Corinna sailed at 9.25 to-night with orders to locate the Totara and towdier to Nelson for repairs.,. , . . - . - 7
YOUNG MAN’S SUTCTDE.
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 8
Ronald Joseph Heslop, aged 22 years, was found hanging in a shed at His father’s farm at Brookside this afternoon. Heslop had left home to do gorse cutting on the farm. He did not return to lunch, and a ( search was made; and his father'-'found 'hini. A medical man ,was summoned* -but, declared the man had lieeil dead "for some hours.

AUCKLAND, Nov. 8. Fatal injuries to the head were received "by a motor cyclist, Claude Mold, aged 21, of Manurewa, as the result of a collision which occurred on the Great South Road, Otahuhu, this afternoon. Mold was proceeding south. A motor lorry and a large service bus were travelling in the same direction, these being in front. Mold’s machine collided violently with the front left wheel of the bus, and be was hurled to the ground. He was gravely injured, his skull being fractured. Death occurred in a few minutes in a few minutes. Mold was utes. Mold was employed at AYestfieM Freezing Works., f
