(Sparely built, six. feet in height, sharp features, penetrating eyes, small and well trimmed heard, Commissi oilier Cunningham, who takes control of the Salvation Army activities in the Dominion was given a reception, along with the members of his family, by the headquarters staff of the Army at Sydney to-night. The gathering was a very large and cordial one. Commissioner Cunningham addressed on the Army’s mission work among the lepers of the Dutch East Indies and later delivered a spiritual address which was described as one of the most eloquent and earnest ever heard in this city. Mrs Cunningham, her two daughters and son were present. A native of Scotland Commissioner Cunningham is nearing his sixtieth year, but withal is extremely alert. He has a striking figures and looks much younger. ' Interviewed he stated he was looking forward with real pleasure and jov to settling down in New Zealand. His interest for the Dominion began forty years ago and ho intended to do his utmost to dcvelon the Annv s work there and if possible extend the sphere of its usefulness.* Mr Cunningham is a much travelled man and lias held the highest and most influential posts in the Army’s organisation. Mrs Cunningham is a native of South Africa. The party sail for New Zealand to-morrow.
