— ■ ■ M AN A.GEMENT COMMITTEE, WELLINGTON, November (1. A meeting of the Management Com-mit-tee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held to-night, Mr S. S. Dean presiding. Mr T. A Fletcher moved: “That the recent ruling of the Union fixing the definition of a Maori .Rugby player as not more than a hall-caste he rescinded.” He pointed out that if the definition were extended to embrace | three-quarter castes it would help Maori football materially. The Maori Advisory Hoard were o'f opinion that j if the limit of a half-caste were adhered to it would mean that the South Island would have to drop out of the. Pi -ince of Wales Cup competition. j Mr Dean seconded the motion pro! foima. | The motion was carried. j The lion, secretary of the New Zealand University Rugby Football Conned submitted a statement of accounts m connexion with the recent tour of she Australian Universities’ ioorbad j Lenm to New Zealand, which revok'd j a credit balance of £902 6s. “ 1 have I been directed by my Council wrote Mr | Mislop, “to explain that tiie balance olf £902 6s is not really profit, hut that this sum is to he used to finance the next tour of the New Zealand University team to Australia. In addition, the Council wishes to place a small sum in reserve for the next tour of the Australians to New Zealand.” On the motion of Mr Dean, it was decided to ask the authorities controlling the Moascar Cup for permission to offer the cup to the New Zealand Divi- j siou of vile Royal Navy as a trophy for annual competition between teams of the New Zealand Navy. Arising out of an appeal by an Auckland team in a fourth grade match, it was decided to instruct referees that in all cases in which the dead-ball line is not defined, there should he an understanding before matches commence.
