N.Z. MAIL BAG STOLEN,

PERTH, Nov. 5.
A registered mail bag, consigned to Wellington, New Zealand, has been stolen, with three other registered bags. It. was placed on a lorry for the central station, and later in the evening the Wellington bag was missed, since when detectives have been unable to locate it.

The Minister oif Customs, answering a deputation which sought the total prohibition of cheap Russian matches, which are killing the Australian match industry, promised to give effect to the request rather than allow hundreds of women and girls to be driven put of employment.
WOOL SALES; BRISBANE, November 6. At the opening of the wool sales there was keen competition. There was a higher price for greasy merino 20Jd and scoured 30d. The prices generally showed an advance of five to ten per cent on the September sales.
