CHATEAU TONGARIRO

The official opening of the Chateau Tongariro, the palatial building in National Park, took place this afternoon in the presence of between 400 and 500 people. The opening ceremony was performed by Air J. B. Thomson, chairman of the National Park Board, who traced the development of the Park from the time when the Board took control until to-day, He said he had' seen bigger places overseas, but nothing which could transcend the appointments of Chateau Tongariro. The completion of the Chateau and goli links meant the expenditure of ifiICC'.OCO, and the people of the Dominion should rally round the Trfngariro Company and let their friends Know of the wonderful scenic and health-givin'g attractions of the Park. During the last few days the 'Chateau has been thronged with visitors from all parts of "the Dominion and visits have been made iby service cars to many of the scenic attractions ofthe district, including Lake Taupo and the houseboat on the Wanganui Kiver. This evening a banquet is being held.
