The Prime Minister, Hon J. H. Scull in, (ommenting on the decision to suspend the Compulsory Military training among the youths of Australia, said that the Government had no intention of interfering wilTf .the delenee of .the Cominonwealth.
There would, said Air Scullin, be a general review of the military policy, witii tlie o >;cct of discovering a more efficient and a- less costly system’. Other mem hers of the Cabinet hinted that the former volunteer system would be re-in trod lied.
Sir George Pearce, who was Minister ol Defence in the Bruce Government, deilaied that the Labour Government bad no authority to suspend compulsory military training and the military camps. Another former Minister described it as an outrage on a most sacred 'trust.
