THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, October 31. The Legislative Council, met at 2.30 p.m. The' Customs Amendment Bill and Patents, Designs, and Trademarks Amendment Bill, were put through the final stages and passed unamended. The Council rose at 3 p.m.

THE HOUSE. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. The Town Planning Amendment Pill (Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle) was introduced and read a first lime. Rural Intermediate Credits Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor* General’s message, and read a first time. Amendments to the Land Laws Amendment Bill", introduced bv Gover-nor-General’s message, were agreed to. Hospital and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill, Law Practitioners’ Amendment (Solicitors’ Fidelity Guarantee Fund) Bill, Pacific Cable Sale Authorisation Bill, Arms Amendment Bill, and Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland Empowering Bill were put through the remaining stages and passed. The following hills were reported from Select Committees with recommendations that they be allowed to proceed:—

Gisborne Harbour Amendment Bill Reserves and other lands Disposal (Washing up) Bill, and Native Lands Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment (Native Washing up) Bill. The House rose at 10.30 p.m: WELLINGTON, Nov. 1. Tlie House of Representatives met at 10.30 a.m.

Nurses and Midwives Registration .'Amendment Bill (Hon A. J. Stallworthy) and Producers Export Amendment Bill (Hon. G. W. Forbes) were introduced and read a first time.

The Licensing Amendment Bill (Mr H. G. R.. Mason) was reported 'from the Select Committee with a recommendation that it should not he allowed ito proceed. .
