STEAMER STILL UNDISCHARGED

After a- week in port the steamer Laweath, with 4090 tons of phosphate is still undischarged. On the morning of her arrival the watersi dors accepted work hut declined to start owing to the 1 Lyttelton trouble.
RELIEF LOANS EXHAUSTED
DUNEDIN COUNCIL’S PLIGHT
DUNEDIN, Nov. 1
The Mayor 'telegraphed the Minister of Works that owing to the exhaustion of relief loans, the Council has had to discharge 80 meji with further discharges •to follow. He earnestly recommends the Government immediately to provide relief as recently promised. At a meeting of unemployed it -was resolved that the Labourers Union institute an unemployment bureau so that- local figures, which the Labour Department refuses to divulge, may be known. It is stated there are 150 members in this union without work.
