■ .. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21st. (Before W. Meldrum, Esq., S.M.) ' LICENSING ACT. On charges of (being on licensed premises after hoars the following were dealt with:— One offender (Keller’s Hotel). Ordered to pay costs 10s. , One offender (Dunedin Hotel). Fined 20s and costs 10s. Three offenders (Pioneer Hotel). One was fined 40s and 'costs 10s, - one 20s and costs 10s, and the. other to pay costs 10s. Three offenders (Railway Hotel) each to pay-costs 10s. Six offenders (Post-Office Hotel). Four were ordered to pay costs I.os each, One was fined 20s and costs 10s, and the other 40s and costs 10s. On a charge of procuring liquor while prohibited P. Souter was fined 10s and costs 10s. H. Jones, licensee of the Railway Hotel (Air Sellers) was charged with keeping open for sale and for selling liquor. A plea of guilty was entered to the second charge and the first was' withdrawn. Fined £2 and costs 10s. ’

Manson, for riding a cycle without a- light and with riding on a footpath was fined 5s and costs 10s on 1 one charge and ordered to pay costs 10s on the other. L: J. G. Ogilvie charged with riding a motor cycle without a driver’s license was fined 10s and costs 12s. ■J. Howat for allowing a cow to wander at large on Kanieri-Rimu road was fined 5s and costs 10s. , M. On the application of the police,, an order of 5s ,per week was made Lv consent for maintenance of a lad in a receiving home at. Christchurch. RETURN OF INCOME. - Commissioner of Taxes (Mr Park) v. M. H. Houston (Mr Elcock), a charge of failure to supply returns of incomje. “ A plea lof guilty I was entered. Fined £2 and costs 10s, solicitor £3 3s. FAILURE TO PAY. On a charge of failure to pay a maintenance order, Hector Turnbull was convicted and sentenced to fourteen days, to be suspended on payment of 10s weekly off: arrears of £8 2s 6d. Mr Murdoch appeared for complainant. BOROUGH BYE-LAWS. Borough Inspector (Mr - Park) v. A. Bone, a charge of cycling without a light at night. Fined 5s and costs 10s, solicitor £1 Is. Same v. John McLennan, a charge of failure to keep oh the proper side of the road while turning a corner on a motor cycle. Fined 5s and costs 10s, solicitor £1 Is. DEBT CASE. Harold Hende (Mr Park) v. Albert Scarle, claim £2O 10s. Judgment for amount with costs £1 12s, solicitor £2 11s 6d.
