IS MR THOMAS MAKING GOOD? United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). * LONDON, October 29. The Eight Hon. J. H. Thomas, who lat the commencement of the Labour regime was regarded as bne of the big men in the Administration, is now subject to consistent press criticism, and he will meet with a veritable bombardment otf questions on the opening of the House of Commons to-morrow. One Labour member, Mr Harry Day, will fire the first shot, asking what is the estimated number of the unemployed, and what schemes were sanctioned by Mr Thomas’s Department in the recess. In view of an early opportunity for a full-dress debate on the Government’s unemployment plans, Mr Thomas will reserve a full statement until his speech in the clebate. Throughout the first days of the session, Mr Thomas is likely to he much in evidence, for, despite th,e success of Mr Ramsay MacDonald’s foreign policy, it seems definite that the Government will be judged on the subject of unemployment.
