P. & T. OFFICERS

TARANAKI PROTEST. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association). NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 23. There was a largely attended meeting of the Taranaki P. and T. Employees’ Association to-night. The following resolution was unanimously carried: The Taranaki Section of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association is extremely disappointed, and protests, at the unsatisfactory statement made by the Prime Minister in reference to the salary question, as it was confidently 'expected that, this being Reclassification Year, an adjustment would have been made in the maximum salary rates of the Clerifcal and General Divisions, thus raising the social and economic standard of the lower paid officers. We also desire to emphasise that the claim made by the Service was not for a restoration of the “cuts” or for regrading, lmt for the Reclassification of the Service generally, as provided under the Post and Telegraph Act. .
