WAIHO NOTES
(From a Correspondent.) A meeting of the Waiho settlers was held on October 14th. Most of the settlers were present. The object of the meeting was to get a subsidy on the carriage of lime and fertiliser. Mr J. Murdoch, of Boss, gave a lengthy and interesting address of what had been done in .the matter. It >vas decided to approach the Minister of Agriculture through Mr J. O’Brien, AJ.P., to get a, subsidy on the carriage of lime, etc., stating that communities living close to the railway got it delivered free .aj||(l, that the charges to \Y r aiho are £s' per ton,, which is prohibitive. The. 'Secretary was instructed to send % copy of the letter to the Mataihui branch of the Farmers’ 4 Union'asking for their support in the matter. .. :
