At trie declaration of the North Sydney poll to-day, Mr W. M. Hughes, who defeated Dr Nott by over 12,003 votes, said: “This contest will remain the uppermost in my mind. I stand as one who always thought of Australia and its ideals, and while the Labour Party stands for those principles it will have my support.” A message has arrived from Western Australia saying that the endorsed Nationalist candidate, Mr Nairn, ha 9 won the Perth seat held by Mr Mann, one of the Government breakaways.
