"William Rode, a land agent, was sentenced, to .five years’ imprisonment for theft of £2,99.2. COAL TROUBLE. NO SOLUTION PROBABLE. SYDNEY, October 18. It is not anticipated that any solution of the coal problem will be found as a result of conversations between Mr Theodore, and coalowners and officers of the Miners’ Federation. Mr Theodore’s proposals are practically a renewal of those made on different occasions during the past seven months by the miners, namely, the re-opening of the mines on conditions existing, before they were' closed down.
