CLAIM FOR DAMAGES
FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION. , WELLINGTON, Oct. 16. The hearing waß continued to-day in the Supreme Court, before Chief Justice Myers, of a claim for £IO,OOO damages arising out of the sale of Craigdean Farm, in Mangamahu Valley. The claim was based on the allegation that there had been fraudulent misrepresentation over the carrying capacity of the property. Norman Anabell (Civil Engineer, Wanganui) said that in May last about 10,000 a.‘res of bush and scrub remained in the property on the land which had been recently cleared, and sown grass was doing quite well. The quality of the land was in keeping with the poorer land in the district. One of the plaintiffs, Eric Stanley Harding, said Leonard Tyler had told him Craigdean w r as carrying 7000 sheep and when possession was taken in August 1927, they took delivery of 6757 sheep. At the first shearing the sheep generally, had not done well, and the position was worse the following years. They had been short of feed for the past two years.
