bigamy charge. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, October 15. : James Wiwi Norton, a Maori, was charged with, bigamy at the Magistrate’s Court xto-day. It was alleged that Norton married Annie McDonald at Blenheim in 1909, and went through la Jmairriage ceremony with Isabella Welsh at Christchurch ‘in 1923. Norton left his first ' wife after a year and did not see 'her from 1914 till 1928. . In a statement to the police, the accused said that he thought that if he lived apart from his wife for seven years, he was quite .in order to marry again. The accused was committed fio*r trial on bail of £IOO with a surety or £IOO.

Before a Justice of the Peace this morning, John Martin Bishara. a< garage proprietor and Geoffrey Alva Trayhurn. general manager of the firm of Bishara Bros.; appeared to answer jointly fourteen charges of theft of motor' vehicles and one of fraud. One charge of theft and one! of false pretences was also preferred! against Trayhurn. ” Detective Walsh prosecuted and A.; E. Seaton represented Trayhurn and J. A. Jordan appeared for Bishara.

The charge of theft of an Oldsmob.le car against Bishara and Trayburn was taken first. Detective Walsh said in the majority of the charges double financing was committed bv defendants.

The accused pleaded not guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court at Hamilton. The hearing of the other charges are proceeding.
