The approximate area is 550 acres. ; The members of the Westland Progress League • will' meet the farmers of the Arahura district on Thursday next at 8 p.m. at the Arahura Valley Hall to discuss tlio matter of a Westland Bay at the Winter Show next year. A large attendance is requested.

Patrons of the Black Hand Society’s Public Ball which takes place to-morrow night are in for a rare treat. The Highmaster and his loyal subjects have been busy making extra complete arrangement's for the pleasure of the dancers. The catering is in the' capable hands of Airs Preston, the floor has been specially prepared, so, what with the beautiful lighting, decorating, gay dresses, pretty girls and nice boys, dancing to the music of the Society’s well-known Orchestra should make everyone happy. ; The Westport “News” apologised in Monday’s issue:—“While the altering of the clocks to comply with the Summer Time regulations are confusing in a- number of cases, the complications were accentuated on this occasion owing to a local, which appeared in our issue of Saturday, stating that the clocks should be put “back” that evening. The (unfortunate -error was obvious to most people. but nevertheless, there were a number who failed to realise the mistake and in consequence arrived lute at the various Church services on Sunday.
