New- Zealand has been asked by the British Eclipse Committee to take .charge of observations of the total pclipse of the sun on October 22nd. of next year. It is only' partial .in New Zealand, hut the path of totality, some 50 miles wide, traverses a strip of pcean dotted with small islands.
Tin Can Island, between Fiji.and JSamoa is selected as the most suitable station. Apparatus for taking photos will be forwarded by the Committee pnd be set up at the Dominion Observatory for practice. ; r
