DONOVAN BEATS GRIFFITHS. (By Telegraph—Press Association). NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 13. Tommy Donovan (Waitara defeated Tommy Griffiths (Dunedin) by a technical knockout in the twelfth round of a scheduled fifteen rounds fight, before a record crowd for New Plymouth. Griffiths was twice down in the tenth and the end came in the twelfth when Donovan ripped a right to the body and righlfc-crossed to the heart. Griffiths went down for nine. He then rose and Donovan rushed him to the ropes and crashed three rights Into his jaw. Griffiths was out, but remained erect by hanging on to the ropes, and the referee stopped the contest.
