(British Official Wireless.) BIG, INCREASE IN DEATHS. LONDON STREET ACCIDENTS. RUGBY, Oct. 8. The groAving number of deaths and serious injuries caused by street accidents is arousing general concern, and the Ministry for Transport, traffic authorities, and motor organ iastions have under their constant consideration measure for minimising the risks of the road. Statistics published to-day slioav that, during the second quarter of the current year, the total number of deaths in London street accidents was 364, as compared with 251 in the first quarter. Of the killed, 229 were pedestrians, of whom 91 are stated to have crossed the road Avithout due care. The toxtal number of persons injured Avas 16,030, 6,8 il) more than in the first three months.

LATE DR. STRESEMANN. . MEMORIAL SERVICE. RUGBY, Oct. 8. A memorial service for the late Dr Stresemann, German Foreign Minister, was held to-day in St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster. The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary were represented, and Mr Lloyd George, Liberal ex-Prime Minister, Sir Austen Chamberlain, Foreign Secretary in the late Government, and Lord Cecil were among the distinguished congregation. The American, Italian, Belgian, and French Ambassadors were also present. BRITISH COALMINING LEGISLATION. PENSIONS FOR MINERS MOOTED. RUGBY, Oct. 8. Officials of the Miners’ Federation will have a further meeting on Thursday with the Cabinet Committee, which is preparing coalmining legislation for Parliament. The Bill will deal with working hours, the control of output and prices, mining royalties, and possibly pensions for miners. A meeting of Durham eoalowners yesterday approved the provisions of the scheme for the regulation of prices and output. The Northumberland owners meet to-day.
