NEW DISTANCE RECORD,

PARIS, October 6
A telegram from Captain Coste to ■the French Consul at Mukden claims that he has broken the world’s long distance record when he landed east of Harbin, over 5000 miles from Paris, thus easily beating the Italian record of 4,492.

FLIGHT TO INDIA PROJECTED.
LONDON, October 6
In the event of there being satisfactory home trials the new airship RIOT, which is still in the hangar, a flight to India is expected before Christmas. Lord Thompson (Secretary for Air) will be a passenger for the purpose of investigating the possibilities of an Anglo-Indian service. It is stated that preparations are already afoot at Karachi to moor the airship.

OSLO, October 6,
Albertini’s party, which has Keen searching the Arctic Ocean for survivors of the “Italia” airship disaster, has returned to Bergen. The party have refused to confirm or deny a report which is current to the effect that they had discovered the remains of the party which was carried away by the envelope.
LUCKY ESCAPES
’PLANE HITS POWER LINE&
(Received this day at 9.2-5 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 7.
An aeroplane struck high tension wires near Goulburn to-day, and the machine crashed in pieces. The pilot, G. Henry, who is a learner, and Leslie Burrows, who had just purchased this aeroplane, calmly extricated themselves from the debris, none the worse for their sensational experience.
