(3) If so, what are the machinery sections o>f the Act under which licenses may he granted? He proceeded to argue that the position created in Ashburton was similar to that created by a vote for restoration by the electors, and that Section 30 of the Licensing Act, 1910, gives the right to the revival of licenses. Mr Wright also mentioned that hotels in Temuka, Lawrence, and in the Auckland district were affected. He urged that it was never intended to deprive the Ashburton people of the right to regain licenses.
