MAJOR JAR VIE’’S SEAT. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, October 6. The Ashfiold bycvelection for . the N.S.W. State Parliament, owing to Major Jarvic’s recent resignation (arising of the allegations of bribery, of which charge Major Jarvie was acquitted) was held on Saturday. The present position of the candidates is as follows: Air Clancy (Labour) 3-144 Major Jarvie (Nationalist) ... 3425 Mr Huie (Independent) ... ... 1662 Air Kirkwood (Nationalist) ... 280 Air Pickett (Nationalist) 186 The preference votes are still to be counted and these are expected to secure Major Jarvie’s return.
