The track was fast and the attendance was large. The totalisator receipts were £8,406, compared with £6,956 10s last year, an increase of £1,449 10s. The w.eather for the Randwiek races is fine but cloudy. , ( ' The “Herald” commenting on the Derby r says it was one of the easiest wins for many yeaftuf Pharlnp gave;:a memorable exhibition of free galloping, and was going easily all the time, while the other horses were making hafcd work of it. The only one to make any impression along the back-was Carradale. The New Zealand bred gelding was allowed. Ills head when entering the straight and after establishing a serviceable lead was held in check. He had the race won before the judge was reached, and was eased lip over the last furlong to break a record, amid tumultuous applause. \ • ’
