Page gave evidence hearing out Rooms’ statement regarding the printing of scrip certificates. Defendants were remanded, bail being refused.
PRINCE OF WALES. (Received this dav at II a.m.) LONDON, October 4. The Prince of Wales has invited el 1 Victoria Cross holders, numbering nearly five hundred, to dine with him on 9th October. The function is being arranged by the British Legion, whose President, Lord .lellicoe, will also attend. The venue has not yet been decided.
\ NEW SUBMARINE. LONDON, October 4. Britain’s lnltest submarine Plioemx, has been launched at Sussex. The displacement is 1570 tons and submerged 20,40. The vessel carries four-inc i gun and eight torpedoes and is equipped with apparatus for locating, ships on the surface while submerged. It. was subsequently revealed that the Admiralty has cancelled another submarine. FOREIGN MINISTER. BERLIN, Oct. 4. Dr Curtis, Minister of E’onomv has bepu appointed Acting-Foreign Minis ter in succession to Dr Stresemaun.
