HENRY

Evidence of the popularity of Air J. B. Hdnry who retired Dom the managership of the Barnc of New Zealand at Auckland on Saturday, after holding the pusition for six years, lias been forthcoming during the past few days; -.ays an Auckland paper, when. Air Henry was made the recipient of presentations.

On Thursday between 40 and 50 prominent Auckiand business men, and mink customers, assembled in the board room at the bank and presented Mr Henry with two ward-roue trunks, lour travelling bags and two rugs. Air Yv. i>. Leylaiul, who made the presentation, spoke kindly of the esteem in which Mr Henry was held and of the appreciation of the help anu advice he had always been ready to give. Replying Mr Henry said lie never could have oelieved he would have been given such a reception. 'While he looked forward to giving up work, he felt it would be a great strain to sever the happy business relations he had formed in Auckland and elsewhere. He prized most highly tlie kindly feelings which had led to the function.

On Friday the staffs of the Bank of New Zeaand presented Air Henry with a beautiful silver salver. In making the presentation Air, H. R. H. Chalmers said that ail regretted Air Henry’s retirement. He had had 49 years’ banking experience 4 , and the last six with the Bank of New Zealand. No

..appier period lmd been enjoyed by the staff. Their troubles were .also the troubles of Air Henry. All wished Air Henry, bis wife and daughter a very pleasant trip Home, and hoped to see them safely return after an enjoyable holiday.

Mr L. Brinkman also spoke, and after Air Henry bad replied, three rousing cheers were given. Mr J. B. Henry was Manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Hokitika for a lengthy period.
