The second reading of the Marriage Amendment Bill was introduced, in the House of Representatives by Mr Mason and was carried by 13—9. , The House of Representatives met at 10.30 o’clock on Friday morning. Mr Coates, speaking on the second reading moved the tollowing amendment to the Land and Income lax Amendment Bill, that further consideration of the Bill should be deferred until the effects of the provisions of the Bill had been fully investigated and reported on. After evidence had been taken before the Public Accounts Committee the amendment was lost by 27 to 45 and the Bill was read a second time, the standing order having been suspended. 1 WELLINGTON, September 28. The Legislative Council met at 10 o’clock and passed the Imprest Supply Bill (Number 4) without discussion. The Council adjourned until 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday next. . . THE HOUSE. . •• The House resumed; in the evening and the debate on the Imprest Supply Bi.i (No. 4) developed into a discussion on the unemployment problem. . . . Sir J. Ward replying said he would undertake within five weeks there would be no unemployed in New. Zealand , among men who were able • to work. Mr H. E. Holland pledged the support of the xvabour Party in putting this policy into effect. The House rose at 3.1 a.m.
