MOTOR CAR HITS POLES. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 26. 1 A Studebaker car collided with and brought down an electric light pole at Normanby car terminus shortly after nine to-night, and then struck a pole carrying an overhead tram wire. The car was badly damaged by the collision, and the wiring was slightly damaged by fire. The brigade was called out and the blaze was speedily extinguished. L nen the Brigade arrived the occupants of the car had disappeared and no trace of them lias been found. s THERMAL BATH. TO BE ESTABLISHED AT TAUPO. WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. •Sir Joseph Ward to-day promised the Taupo Road Board’s deputation, representing also the Domain Board, that he would make a vote next year to provide for a thermal hath ill Taupo township, from the waters of what is known as the Old Constabulary Batlu ’QUAKE RELIEF MEETING. The final meeting of the Combined Committee of the Christchurch Trotting Clubs was hold to-day, ulien matters in connection with the recent earthquake relief benefit meeting were dealt with. A resolution was passed thanking Derry’s Band, the gntemen, and all the Clubs’ officials who gave their services gratuitously at the meeting. FOUND HANGING. GORE, Sept. 27. A farmer named R. M. Niehol, aged 44, was found hanging in a • shed on his property at Maitland, this morning. Deceased was a married man and had not been in good health.
