WAIPORI POWER
DUNEDIN COUNCIL’S DECISION (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) . . DUNEDIN, Sept. 25. The Dunedin City Council decided to-night to abandon the negotiations which have been proceeding for the sale to the Government of the Waipori xieadworks, and to proceed itself with the development of the Power Station. The Government offered £531,845 for the headworks, together with the capital expended by the Council during the current financial year. The Government proposed to charge the Council £4 16s per kilowatt for the bulk power uelivered. The Council’s Electric Power mittee reported adversely on this latter proposal, as the Council is at present generating power at a* cheaper rate, and can, apparently, continue to do so. The report of the Committee was adopted unanimously. \
