BRITAIN’S AIRSHIPS
ANSWER TO CRITICS. United Press Association — By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, September 25. Commenting on the sugestion that the British airship R 100 is already obsolete, Commander Burney said that this was at variance with a statement of Commander Eckener, of the Grai Zeppelin, to the effect that he proposed construtcing a new airship to approximately the same shape as RIOO, and would' also incorporate passenger quarters with the hull. The Air Ministry states that the assessment of the performances of RIOO and R 101 must necessarily await the completion of home flying trials. LONDON, September 24. Commander Burney declines to comment on the prophecy that the Government airship RlOl will prove to be a disappointment. He expresses the opinion that it will be better to wait the results of her trials. His company, which is building RlOl, is con lident that she will exceed the contract speed by ten miles per hour, and the litting contract by two or three tons, '■
